Flaming Gorge

We had a beautiful day in and around the Flaming Gorge Park yesterday. Realizing that we won't have such easy access to mountain grandeur our whole lives, we decided to spend two nights in this location and enjoy an entire day exploring. Wow! We're right in the northern corner of Utah--right by Wyoming and not far from Colorado. Mountains, streams, apsens turning brilliant yellow. We saw mountain rams right along the road, wild turkey, deer, and lots of new birds. We just meandered around dirt roads, stopped at a mountain lake (where it was snowing!) for lunch, explored some creeks and took breaks wherever it looked beautiful. We took too many pictures. Some of them are posted to a new set at Flickr. Click here if you want to see them.

There is something about wide expanses of unspoiled nature that usher you into the presence of God. You don't have to mention it or talk about it or ask for it, you are just there. Feeling his love for beauty, his creativity, and his diversity.

Wow! What an amazing family photo. I'm assuming you asked one of the mountain rams to take it for you? Ha. Amazing. Totally makes me miss Montana...we had this kind of beauty surrounding us all the time there. It's breathtaking. So glad you got to extend your stay there...what a luxury! You guys look great.

What beauty around you! The pics are great even though I'm sure it doesn't do justice! We'll miss you at our playdate on Thursday!

Grest pics. Sorry to hear about the truck issues, but it looks like you guys are hitting some of the most beautiful parts of the country at the exact right time of year for some many amazing colors.

We keep you guys in our prayers.

I've come across your blog and am enjoying looking at your travels. I've been thinging for a long time of traveling with my daughter and husband to see this beautiful country. I noticed you are traveling with your dog. We also have a dog that would HAVE to come with us and I've wondered how she would do. She seems about the same size as your dog, how has it been for your dog staying in the RV etc?

Good luck in your adventure.

Linda, thanks for the message and for following our journey. Judah is a great car traveller--he just stays in one place and doesn't get nervous. So far it's been fine with him on the RV...it's close quarters, but he's doing okay. Every park we've been to has welcomed pets, and it seems like a lot of other RV-ers have dogs, too. Honestly, it makes me feel safer to have him when we're parked in strange places like a parking lot. He's actually a pretty wussy dog, but he can look fierce!
Take your trip! You won't regret it, and the memories will be special for your daughter.
Blessings,
Laura
